IF you say it is not about the money, and that you don’t want to minister to “buildings,” then commit
now, and in writing, to selling any sacred church (& grounds) for $1, to any group of faithful Catholics
who agree in writing to maintain it as sacred space. There is considerable precedent for this, all over
the world and here in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, where we can preserve consecrated and sacred
ground, and not cede it to Satan by making it “profane” by virtue of a canonical decree signed by
Archbishop Rozanski.

A travesty and a tragedy. In St. Louis I don’t think we have sold any churches to Muslims yet, but we certainly have to Protestant congregations. Although they are still within the Christian faith, is it truly appropriate according to Catholic Canon Law? Besides selling to other faiths, St. Louis has a sad history of former Catholic churches being used for “temporal” purposes: St. Lawrence O’Toole, auto repair shop; Holy Family, advertising agency (or some such business); St. Liborius, skateboard park. There may well be other examples I am not aware of. We can’t take a chance on atrocities like this happening again.
