Please read page four of the Jubilarian section of this week’s Review. Under Father David Wichlan, ordained by Archbishop Ritter on April 6, 1957, his very first assignment was to the Missionary Apostolate Plan in southern Missouri from 1957 to 1958. We had missionary apostolates in this state back then but don’t evangelize now?

Thank you for stepping up and asking needed questions. What is with the secrecy? Rank and file Catholics paid for and built all these churches. Do we not deserve an above-board planning process? Are we all not brothers and sisters in Christ?
This is elitism.
I was in some meetings early on and the main reason given for ATN was MONEY. FR. Martin: “If we don’t do this we will go bankrupt.” And “The diocese needs money to pay to minister to those on the margins of society.”
No specifics. When asked – Fr. Martin gave one example – they “need to pay for tuition for inner city kids.”
Now, rolling it out to the ‘listening sessions” they are saying its because of the shortage of priests. ???Solution:
IF they need money for ministries as they said behind closed doors, close the parishes that are not sustaining themselves. Then send a letter to all Catholics in the diocese listing all the ministries they want to fund and how much they need.
Include an envelope for each ministry to be dropped in their parish collection basket once a month for each ministry. If they get the money they need, good. If they do not, it tells you they DO NOT want to fund it. That should be honored.People will fund the Cathedral and the Bishops. They do approve of all the “ministries” the diocese involves itself in. That should be respected. THEY are paying the bills.
Last:
START TEACHING THE FAITH. Then people will stop leaving the church and maybe we will have more priests. No one knows the faith! Kids or adults.-
What about the scam Beyond Sunday- wasn’t that supposed to support our schools but with 60% going to the archdiocese and only 40% staying in the parish? And why fund inner city kids scholarships when Catholic parents can’t afford Catholic schooling for their own children?
